UPDATE

Hey everyone! I know its been a while since Ive posted- partly because Ive been sick, and partly because my Internet access is still pretty limited! Last wed, we didn't make it to the studio as planned. My dear friend Robbie, couldn't make it down from Napa and so I decided to stay home and just practice and work some kinks out of some of my songs so that our next studio session would be up to par. My Mom and I did get together and worked on some really beautiful bass lines for several songs. I am just pinching myself as I sit there with my dear mama who is such a talented and capable musician! We are really in our element together and we both can literally feel the Lords presence on us as we make music together! Due to my sickness, I am not going to make it back in the studio this week either which is quite irksome because being there gives me a boost of creative life and energy that I need to keep motivated! I will just have to wait till next week though, I dont want to strain my voice or get any of the guys sick! So the last week has felt like a bit of a setback but I have to remind myself that this is all part of the journey, Life happens, people get sick, etc, and I just have to keep my eye on the prize and keep truckin! I do have one BIG accomplishment to share though: BROKEN VESSEL is OFFICIALLY registered with the US copyright office!!!!! I have to say, it took some doing and I was very proud of myself. I am NOT good with technical things at all and admit that if something isn't "easy" in that regard I tend to bail! (Not a good trait I know but Im working on it ) So, I sat down today, made myself watch the tutorial and figured it out all by myself! So, in 6 months, my album should be fully and legally protected! Doing this small step has really put a fire in my belly....it just makes me feel even more that this is really happening and its exciting!

Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou!

I am so happy and grateful to announce my very first donation for the production costs of "Broken Vessel" I will be opening a separate checking account with some of the money and the rest will be used to help pay for the copyright fees! Thank you, you know who you are! :)

Progresso! And I'm not talking spaghetti sauce!

I had a great session at the Living for JC studio last night! I plowed through all the songs that will be on the album and today I will be sending  them in mp3 format as a Collective Work-Sound recording to the US copyright office to get them registered for a copyright. So, in 6 months, my songs will be totally protected! In the meantime, I am going to do the "Poor man's copyright" and send them through certified mail to myself and keep it unopened in a safe place in case I need to prove ownership, I figure that, along with being registered for copyright, that will be good enough protection for now. So, now I just have to figure out how to post audio clips on here and we will have some music on this site!
Next week studio session is already in the works. My very talented friend, Robbie is driving down from Napa to record the delicious background vocals we figured out a few weeks ago and my mom is laying down some string bass tracks that sound amazing and add such a richness and fullness to the songs. I am pinching myself that these two lovely and talented people happen to be one of my best friends and my mother. God is good! My goal this month is to get what I feel are my two strongest songs completed with vocals and instruments and ready for music videos! I am looking for a violinist and a cellist, so if any of you know of anyone please let me know or give them my info so they can contact me.

Beginnings

Second day in the beautiful and magically historical town of Knights Ferry. Never in my life have I been somewhere that inspires me to create as this place. I'm staying with my friends Mary and Jason and their new little one in a perfect little trailer on the river. As I write, I can hear the water rushing...its amazing! I feel in my bones that this place is going to my main source of inspiration so I am delighted to have started my journey with this blog here and be writing my first entry in this delicious place! So far since Ive been here (less than 24 hours) I have created a blog, researched copyright laws and implemented a plan to copyright my songs asap,AND, on our hour long walk, stumbled upon the PERFECT place  for my first music video and title track " Broken Vessel" While, part of me wants to " gush about what I found, I want to keep it a surprise for when the video come out! I will tell you this though, I was walking and out of nowhere I see the edge of something and it gets bigger and bigger as I get closer and closer and I get the chills and I KNOW it is the perfect place....I would love to stay a couple more days here, but I miss my babies and I have a studio session tomorrow evening to record every song Ive written so far-finished or not, so that I have a complete work to send into the copyright office. I have decided that getting my work copyrighted properly is the most important next step. It is a little bit of a time consuming thing as well as costly, but once it is done I will have the freedom to post my work anywhere (including on this blog yay!) and not have to worry about losing my work. Well, I am off now, to soak in my dear friend Mary, her beautiful baby, and this place.
